On June 6, 2024, Inuvialuk young leader Darryl Tedjuk participated in a press call with other climate-impacted delegates from across Canada at Parliament Hill on the unceded Algonquin Anishinaabe Territories in Ottawa, ON. Darryl was one of five delegates who shared how climate change has destroyed their homes, livelihoods, and communities. The press call was held before a highly anticipated appearance of fossil fuel executives of Suncor, Imperial Oil, Cenovus Energy, Shell and Enbridge, to address the House of Commons Environment Committee. These delegates urged federal politicians in Canada to stop delaying and place caps on oil and gas emissions from these large polluters to help mitigate the impacts being keenly felt by communities on the frontlines of human-fueled climate change.
